Police swooped on a property in the eastern town of Lipsko last week following a tip-off and found several guns and ammunition of various calibers.
Acting on information that more weaponry might be found in the man’s apiary, officers had come prepared with one of them, a beekeeping enthusiast, taking protective clothing.
Among the haul officers found 283 rounds of ammo for which permits are required as well as over a dozen weapons, both firearms and air guns, some of which bore marks of having been converted to fire live rounds, Mazowian regional police said on their website.
The pneumatic weapons will be inspected by experts to determine whether they are legal.
The man has been charged with possession of firearms and ammunition without the necessary permits and if convicted faces up to eight years in prison.
