The two towns in southwestern Poland were among the areas of the country most devastated by floodwaters that have affected swathes of Central Europe.

The mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, used the X platform to call on Varsovians to donate, emphasizing the need for bottled water, cleaning products and dry food. Pet food is also being collected.

Trzaskowski also said he would ask Warsaw City Hall for funds to help rebuild Kłodzko and Nysa, with the money to be earmarked for projects specified by the towns’ municipal authorities.

Collection points have been organized in the capital’s various districts, and Trzaskowski urged residents to follow updates on social media. A central collection point has also been established in downtown Warsaw.
