Crackdown on fraudsters
In Bucharest, prosecutors and police officers executed seven search warrants and 24 arrest warrants in a tax evasion case. Another case involves a fraudulent scheme with damages of up to 525,000 lei (€106,000).
In another case, authorities conducted 21 home searches related to computer fraud and deception, resulting in an estimated loss of over 1,000,000 lei (€201,000). In Bihor County, investigators examined a case involving fraud and fraudulent bankruptcy, with losses amounting to approximately 3,200,000 lei (€643,000).
Furthermore, in Bacău, eastern Romania, authorities carried out six searches in connection with a tax evasion case, which caused damages exceeding 1,000,000 lei (€643,000).
A particularly notable case involved a person operating online under the name “Nun Beatrice,” who defrauded a victim of €87,000 by claiming to solve personal problems.
Moreover, in an operation in Turda, southeastern Romania, two searches were conducted in a case involving abuse of office by public officials from the Forestry Department.
Authorities emphasize that coordinated operations against economic, financial, and environmental crimes and corruption continue to intensify. These efforts aim to ensure citizen safety, combat crimes, and enforce the law effectively, focusing on community protection and maintaining a safe environment for all citizens.
