Alexandre Baginski, who flew from Brazil to Europe this week, discovered the club from western Poland while playing the popular computer game FIFA.

He has Polish roots, which is why he wanted to get to know his heritage better through the game.

“Getting to know a club that I have followed for years is really exciting. I have always been interested in football and my Polish roots. I chose Lech Poznań,” Bagiński said. After seeing his posts about planning to come to Poznań to see his team play live, Lech fans, determined to give one of their own a warm greeting, set up a fundraiser to give him a special welcome.

They have raised over 12,000 zloty (over €2,750), Polish sports website Gol 24 reported.

Since arriving Baginski has been immersing himself in activities related to Kolejorz, as the club is nicknamed. On Wednesday, he cheered Lech Poznań’s second team in a Polish Cup match against Korona Kielce, the Eska Radio website reported.

“The next step is a trip to Krakow for a match against Puszcza Niepołomice,” Baginski said.

“Next week I will have the opportunity to get to know the club from the inside. My stay in Poland will be crowned by a match against Legia Warsaw [on November 10] at the stadium on Bułgarska Street.”

Baginski, known online as Kolejorz Brasil, has been running his Kolejorz Brasil X platform account since October 2021.

“My profile is mainly aimed at Poles, but sometimes Brazilians also see my posts… It is hard for me to say, however, whether my actions have made anyone in Brazil interested in the Polish league,” he said.
