Jagiellonia will play against FC Copenhagen, Molde FK, FK Mlada Boleslav, Moldova's FC Petrocub and Slovenia's Olimpija Ljubljana and NK Celje. Legia Warsaw will face Real Betis, Djurgarden, Omonia Nicosia, FC Lugano, TSC Backa Topola and Dynamo Minsk in the league phase of the reformed Conference League. Jagiellonia began their maiden European adventure in the Champions League qualifiers, from which they were eliminated and dropped down into the Europa League. However, a 7-1 aggregate defeat to Dutch giants Ajax means they will play in the Conference League. Legia, who are more experienced with European football, navigated their way past Welsh, Danish and Kosovan opponents in their Conference League qualifiers. Jagiellonia and Legia will be Poland’s only representatives in Europe this season.
Last season’s victors in the Puchar Polski (Polish Cup), Wisła Krakow missed out on a place in the league phase, losing 7-5 on aggregate to Belgian outfit Cercle Brugge. Having lost the first leg 1-6 at home, the second division team made a valiant but ultimately unsuccessful effort in the away leg, winning 1-4. The Conference League - the third most prestigious UEFA club competition - has undergone a major revamp. The biggest change is the group stage, which will now become a single league stage, incorporating 36 teams. Each side will face six different opponents - playing three home and three away matches. The eight best teams from the league stage will advance directly to the quarter finals, while the teams that finish between 9th and 24th will compete in a play-off for a place in the knockout phase. The league will begin on October 3 but the schedule has not yet been announced.
