The tournament will be held at the Atlas Arena, which has always been very fortunate for the Polish team.
Sebastian Świderski, the President of the Polish Volleyball Association and renowned former Polish player, pointed out that the competition in Łódź would be the final stage of preparations of the Polish national team for the Olympic Games in Paris, starting on July 26.
“We hope that this final will be successful for our team. This year, we had the opportunity to host a women’s Olympic qualification tournament at the Atlas Arena, successful for our team, and we hope that our men will follow in their footsteps in 2024 and build a good form at this stage of preparations for the Olympics,” he noted.
Eight teams will participate in the final tournament - the top seven after the intercontinental phase, plus Poland as the host. The competition will follow a knockout system. Under the guidance of coach Nikola Grbić, the Polish national team will aim to defend the title won this year in Gdańsk.
Łódź has been a host to major volleyball events for years. In September, the Atlas Arena saw the Polish women’s volleyball team secure qualification for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. In 2021, the venue hosted the Women’s World Championship, and in 2014, the Men’s World Championship. Łódź also hosted the European Championships (2009 and 2019), the Club World Championships (2017), as well as matches in the World League, World Grand Prix, and Champions League.
