The hosts defended the title they won three years ago at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Poland, the world ranking's leaders, has won four Olympic medals in its history, including gold at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, but failed to reach the medal zone in the last five Olympic Games: Athens, Beijing, London, Rio and Tokyo.
