Andrzej Rzeszutek became the European champion in the 1-meter springboard event, beating Italy’s Matteo Santoro and Stefano Belotti, who came second and third respectively.
In the men’s 4x100-m freestyle, the Polish team of Mateusz Chowaniec, Dominik Dudys, Ksawery Masiuk and Kamil Sieradzki took silver, beating the national record with a time of 3 mins 13.25. Serbia took gold and Greece bronze.
Jakub Majerski won a bronze medal in the 100-m butterfly, losing to Hungary’s Kristof Milak and Hubert Kos, who took gold and silver respectively. Meanwhile, in the women’s 50-m backstroke, Adela Piskorska also gained a bronze, finishing behind Theodora Drakou of Greece in second with Ireland’s Danielle Hill taking gold. The day’s haul was rounded off by Jan Kałusowski, who also won bronze in the 200-m men’s breaststroke.
Prior to Thursday’s successes, Poland had won two medals at the championships. On Tuesday, Aleksandra Błażowska was second in the women’s 1-m springboard and a day later the women’s 4x100-m relay team came third.
