In August, Hurkacz ended his five-year spell with coach Craig Boynton, and remained without a trainer until the end of the season.
Hurkacz has turned to two coaches with great pedigree. American-Czech Ivan Lendl is an eight-time Grand Slam champion, the most decorated player of the 1980s and the former coach of Andy Murray.
Lendl has previously coached and managed the outstanding Polish tennis player Wojciech Fibak and they enjoyed a long and fruitful partnership.
Meanwhile, Chilean Nicolás Massú is a two-time Olympic gold medalist who was known for his fighting spirit as a player, having turned around matches on numerous occasions.
Massu's most successful period as a coach was with Dominic Thiem. He helped the Austrian win the US Open and assisted him to third in the ATP ranking.
Trying to regain 2021 form
Hurkacz began making strides on the ATP Tour in 2018, climbing into the Top 100. He won his first ATP title in 2019. His biggest career title was at the Miami Open, becoming the first Polish player to win an ATP Masters 1000 title.
His standout Grand Slam performance came at Wimbledon 2021, where he reached the semifinals. However, he has struggled subsequently to find consistency in the most high-stakes matches.
The Pole has also struggled with a meniscus injury that he picked up midway through this year.
If the new coaches can help him iron out problems with inconsistency and he can stay injury-free, he stands a good chance of rediscovering the form that made him a mainstay in the world top 10 in 2021.
Hurkacz is currently 16 in the ATP rankings. His next appearance on court will be on December 19, when he plays in the World Tennis League.
