On Monday, various Turkish media outlets reported that Galatasaray's management had traveled to Italy for talks with Roma and Zalewski’s representatives.

According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the Pole wants to leave Italy. The clubs themselves are getting closer to an agreement, reportedly a five-year contract worth around €38,000 per week, TVP Sport reported.

The transfer window has already closed in Europe’s major leagues, but the Turkish window closes on Friday.
Turkish media reported that the 22-year-old has already said goodbye to his teammates in Rome. Galatasaray were initially set to pay Roma €8 million plus possible bonuses for Zalewski’s services, but a sudden twist in negotiations complicated the talks.

According to the latest revelations, the Italian side has raised its expectations, demanding as much as €11 million for the Pole. The Turkish club believes the new proposed transfer fee is too high due to Zalewski being out of contract in June 2025.

If Zalewski was to stay at Roma, he would be able to discuss terms with other clubs in the January transfer window regarding a free transfer next summer. This week is therefore the final opportunity for Roma to receive a fee for the player.

Zalewski has played in 109 matches for the club from the Italian capital, scoring two goals and providing seven assists. He enjoyed his best club form under former Roma head coach José Mourinho in 2022–23. He has made three appearances this season, but only once as a starter.

Zalewski has impressed in Poland’s recent Nations League matches against Scotland and Croatia, widely perceived as Poland’s outstanding performer in both games.

He is equally adept as either a winger or wing-back, where he is typically deployed in the national team. He usually plays on the left, cutting in on his favored right foot, troubling defenders with his turn of pace and willingness to dribble in tight situations.

Zalewski was born to Polish parents in Italy and has only played for Roma during his club career so far, having joined them as a nine-year-old.
