The Pole traditionally came out to play in the first five. He stayed on the floor for 36 minutes and had great efficiency. He scored 12 out of 14 throws during the game (including 3/3 for three-pointers) and all six free throws. His stats are complemented by eight rebounds, six assists, and an interception. He recorded five losses and committed five fouls. His previous career record, set in January, was 30 points.

Sochan was also close to leading in overtime. Four seconds before the end of the game, he intercepted the ball and went on the attack thwarted by Trae Young.

“I knew he was going to try to get to the basket. I was the last defender and had a choice to either foul him or try to catch him on the charge. I chose the latter and succeeded,” Young said. Still, Sochan managed to break Poland’s record for the number of points scored in an NBA match, which previously belonged to Marcin Gortat–31. Unexpected win

The Spurs led by 15 points late in the first quarter and by four heading into the final period. The game was tied at 1:23 after two free throws by Jeremy Sochan with 3:33 to play before Atlanta, which snapped a two-game skid, took the lead for good on a pair from the charity stripe by Young 11 seconds later.

Devin Vassell and Murray traded 3-pointers, the latter with 1:34 remaining to give the Hawks a four-point advantage. Young added a bank shot and then canned another two free throws with 39 seconds on the clock to allow Atlanta to seal the victory.

The Spurs will get a chance to redeem themselves tomorrow, facing the New Orleans Pelicans.
