Iga Świątek concluded her remarkable 2023 by clinching the WTA Finals title and securing the year-end No. 1 singles ranking, securing her second consecutive WTA Player of the Year Award.

Despite being just 22 years old, she has held the No. 1 ranking for 82 weeks, making it the 10th-longest reign in WTA history.

Additionally, Świątek ranks 14th on the tour's all-time career prize money list, having earned nearly USD 24 million. Off the court, Świątek expanded her endorsement portfolio this year by partnering with Visa, On for shoes and apparel, Oshee for sports drinks, and the information technology company Infosys. These additions complement her existing four partnerships.

Gu, on the other hand, owes her high income primarily to lucrative sponsorship deals. The gold medalist from last year’s Beijing Olympics in the big air and halfpipe disciplines earned USD 22.1 million, with only USD 0.1 coming from competitions. For most of the year, the Chinese athlete was recovering from an injury.

In third place is American Coco Gauff with USD 21.7 million. The top 10 was dominated by tennis athletes, with Eileen Gu being the sole representative of another sport.

As explained, the income figures in sports come from official data. Estimates regarding off-court earnings were established based on discussions with industry insiders and include income from advertising, licenses, memorabilia sales, or business activities, including shares in various companies. The analysis does not take into account taxes and commissions for agents or intermediaries.
