Świątek had almost full control over the match, which lasted an hour and 26 minutes. She had to defend against a total of three break points in the two sets, and each time she succeeded. Zheng only managed to convert two out of five breakpoints.

A break in the second game of the first set was enough for the Pole to seal the set in her favor. Later, both players comfortably held their serves.

Zheng’s hopes were raised in the second set when she led 2-1 and had a breakpoint opportunity, but Świątek swiftly ended her hopes by taking five straight games. She converted her first match point, with a bit of luck on her side - after her shot, the ball nearly stopped on the net cord. Zheng managed to return it to the other side, but Świątek ended the match with a calm volley out of her opponent’s reach.

The Polish athlete reached the semifinals without dropping a set. On Friday, she will compete against Russian Anna Kalinskaya for a spot in the finals.
