Szubarczyk achieved the feat at the International Billiard and Snooker Federation (IBSF) 2024 Junior Championships in Bengaluru, India, where he defeated the world’s number two youth player, 20-year-old German Alexander Widau, in the final on Saturday.

After two frames, the Pole and German were neck and neck, but Szubarczyk went on to win all the remaining frames and triumph 5:1 with a top break of 70 in the third frame.

Szubarczyk is no stranger to representing his country overseas, having placed ninth at the European under-16s event in Sarajevo in March, a record achievement at the time for a Polish player in his age category in international competition.

He is also Poland’s youngest ever national U-18 and U-21 champion, having chalked up both those titles last year at the age of 12. Szubarczyk has also held the U-12 Polish title twice (2021 and 2023) and is the reigning Polish champion at six-red (a simplified form of the game involving just six red balls as well as the standard six other colors).

In addition, he is the Polish U-16 pool champion and the reigning Polish junior champion at Snooker Shout Out (a faster version lasting a maximum of 10 minutes per game).
