Aside from the boxer, there are still a considerable number of Poles who stand a good chance of coming home with a gong before Paris 2024 comes to a close this Sunday.

So far, Klaudia Zwolińska (slalom kayaking) has earned a silver. Polish rowers (quadruple sculls), the épée fencers team, and Iga Świątek in the women’s tennis singles all took bronze medals.

Magnificent Mirosław

On Wednesday at 12:35 CET, the quarterfinal of the women’s speed climbing event will begin, followed by the remaining rounds over the preceeding half an hour.

Aleksandra Mirosław is favorite for gold, following her exhilarating form during the heats, breaking the world record on two occasions. Meanwhile, her compatriot Aleksandra Kałucka looks well placed for a medal in the same competition.

On Wednesday at 21:47 CET, Szeremeta will enter the ring again. She will face Nesthy Petecio from the Philippines, and even if she loses, she will take bronze. If she wins, the boxer – who, backed by the Confederation party, ran for a seat on a Polish regional assembly earlier this year – will fight for gold on Saturday evening.
Thursday’s biggest hope for Poland will be the women’s kayaking quartet. Karolina Naja, Anna Puławska, Dominika Putto, and Adrianna Kąkol will compete in the K4 500 at 13:40 CET.

Naja and Puławska will be back on the water the following day in the K2 500, with the final scheduled for 13:10 CET.

Mateusz Rudyk will be competing on Friday in sprint cycling, with the event taking place at 18:00 CET. The final race in the 400m is scheduled for 20:00 CET.

Natalia Kaczmarek should proceed from the semis on Wednesday to the final of the women’s 400m on Friday, where she stands a good chance of taking silver.

High hopes in volleyball

The Olympic event most eagerly anticipated by Polish fans is the men’s volleyball team taking on the US on Wednesday for a place in the final on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Daria Pikulik will also be competing in a final, and stands a good chance of making it to the podium in track cycling, which is scheduled for 11:00 CET.

A few other Poles have an outside chance of medals, including the recently reinstated Dorota Borowska. In June, the kayaker tested positive for the prohibited substance clostebol, but a tribunal accepted her explanation and overturned the decision.

Sprint canoeist Wiktor Głazunow has a reasonable chance in the C-2 1000. Maria Andrejczyk, who won a silver in the javelin in Tokyo, could make it to the podium again.
