The American company explained that these are contracts for commissioning work related to technical support for the construction of Poland’s first nuclear power plant. It was pointed out that among the companies that have signed cooperation agreements for this project, is Energoprojekt-Katowice S.A. “EPK will provide services in the field of regulations and standards as well as support in obtaining environmental permits,” read the communication.

Bechtel also made mention of Prochem S.A., which “will provide support in obtaining permitting documentation,” and Summa Linguae Technologies S.A., which will support the project by providing translation services. The company emphasized that it is open to cooperation both with companies experienced in nuclear projects and with those interested in gaining experience in the area.

Bechtel reminded that together with Westinghouse Electric Company, it formed a consortium which is a partner of Polish Nuclear Power Plants (PEJ) in the delivery of three AP1000 reactors for Poland's first nuclear power plant in the “Lubiatowo-Kopalino” location.

On September 27, 2023, the investor and operator of the nuclear power plant in Pomerania - the company Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (Polish Nuclear Power Plants) signed an agreement with the Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium to design Poland’s first nuclear power plant.

PEJ already has an environmental decision for the construction and operation of a nuclear power plant with a capacity of up to 3750 MWe in the Lubiatowo-Kopalino location, as well as a fundamental decision issued by the Minister of Climate. The power plant is to be built using Westinghouse’s AP1000 technology and to consist of three blocks.
