The mission was organized by the Polish Chamber of Power Industry and Environmental Protection together with the NEI and with the support of the Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment’s Department of Nuclear Energy, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the two countries’ embassies.

The purpose of the mission was “the promotion of Polish enterprises in relation to their American counterparts from the point of view of the Polish nuclear energy program, orders in the USA and on third country markets,” according to a press release from the Polish ministry.

The statement went on to note that to date, more than a dozen orders have been carried out by Polish firms, mostly concerning the production of components for American Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs).

The ministry also pointed out that, to date, almost 100 Polish companies have been involved in nuclear power projects globally.

Poland plans to develop its first NPP at a site near its northern Baltic coast, built by an American consortium of Westinghouse and Bechtel.

The project, estimated to cost around $20 billion, is scheduled to start construction in 2026 with the first reactor expected to be commissioned in 2033. Ultimately up to six reactors are planned to be developed in two locations with a combined capacity of 9 gigawatts.
