Free piano recitals will take place every Sunday from May 19 to September 29, showcasing the timeless works of Fryderyk Chopin performed by top pianists from all around the world.
The Chopin Concerts have been a staple cultural event in Warsaw for 65 years, drawing up to 120,000 visitors each season. These concerts offer a unique experience of Chopin’s music in the natural surroundings of Warsaw’s iconic Łazienki Park (Park Łazienkowski).
The jubilee season will open with performances by renowned Polish pianist Krzysztof Jabłoński at noon, as well as Italian pianist Leonora Armelini, a laureate of the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition, at 4 PM. The opening concerts will feature the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra conducted by Marta Kluczyńska.
Andrzej Matusiak, head of Stołeczna Estrada, the event’s organizer, said: “Fryderyk Chopin's music unites. Various generations have been meeting at our concerts for 65 years – we host older and very young people, families, groups of friends, and singles. Concerts are played by outstanding artists from Poland, but also from Europe, Asia and America.”
He added: “This year’s inaugural season is doubly special for us - not only because of the long tradition of the event, which is a global phenomenon, but also because of the uniqueness of the concerts and the huge turnout of people who come to listen to them.”
The tradition of these concerts dates back to 1959, making them one of Warsaw's key cultural attractions. All concerts are free and co-funded by the City of Warsaw.
