This over two-decades-long tradition allows participants to explore various cultural institutions during nighttime hours, with many venues offering special events exclusively for this occasion.

Typically organized by local authorities, the Long Night of Museums will take place in numerous cities across Poland, though some locations may adjust the event date.

During the event, museums open their doors to the public, highlighting the nation’s rich cultural and historical heritage. The National Museum in Warsaw, known for its vast collection of Polish and international art, and the Copernicus Science Centre, famous for its engaging interactive exhibits, are among the key attractions.

Historical landmarks, such as the Wawel Royal Castle in the southern city of Krakow, provide unique insights into Poland’s past through their special exhibits and displays. Each participating museum offers distinct experiences, attracting both locals and tourists eager to delve into Polish culture and history.

The Long Night of Museums concept originated in Berlin in 1997 and quickly spread throughout Europe. Poland first organized the event in 2003 at the National Museum in Poznań, with subsequent events in Krakow and Warsaw joining the initiative the following year.

Many museums and galleries organize additional activities such as workshops, lectures, temporary exhibitions, and concerts, enriching the cultural offerings of the night.

The Long Night of Museums has become a highly anticipated cultural event in Poland. It symbolizes the vibrant growth of Poland’s cultural scene and a commitment to innovative art promotion.
