Production of S. Korean K2 tanks for European buyers to be moved to Poland Poland will start producing K2 tanks using South Korean technology and equipment, according to a statement made by Poland's defense minister.

Poland will start producing K2 tanks using South Korean technology and equipment, according to a statement made by Poland's defense minister.

Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz revealed that Poland aims to become a service hub for South Korean military equipment, meeting not only domestic needs but also those of other European countries, including Romania.

He confirmed that the production of K2 tanks in Poland would commence soon, with South Korea committed to transferring the necessary technology as quickly as possible.

In discussions with his South Korean counterpart on Thursday, the minister secured an agreement on a timeline for the implementation of joint contracts. These contracts involve the acquisition of various military assets for the Polish army, including K2 tanks, K9 self-propelled howitzers, FA-50 aircraft, and Chunmoo rocket launchers.

Additionally, Kosiniak-Kamysz indicated that Poland had extended an invitation to South Korea to consider purchasing Polish equipment.

He expressed satisfaction with the positive preliminary response from the South Korean delegation. “We purchase extensively from South Korea, and we hope South Korea will also invest in Polish products,” he said.

The announcement came after South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik and his delegation arrived in Poland on Thursday and participated in the ‘Poland-South Korea Strategic Dialogue’ in Warsaw on Friday.

This collaboration comes in the wake of heightened security concerns following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, prompting Poland to enhance its military capabilities.
