Kosiniak-Kamysz discussed Poland's expectations for the upcoming NATO summit, scheduled for July 9–11, during an interview with TVP Info, noting that preparations were already underway in light of his recent meeting with the German defense minister and Lithuanian visit.

“The strategy focuses on several areas. Firstly, support for Ukraine, which will be a key point of discussion, and greater coordination of this support,” the minister said.

He also mentioned regional plans. “We will strive to ensure that initiatives like the East Shield and the Baltic defense line involving Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are treated as joint EU and NATO investments,” he added.

When asked about additional security assurances for Poland in case of an attack, Kosiniak-Kamysz responded: “If we are not ready to defend ourselves, no one will help us. We must always be prepared. But our allies will fulfill their commitments. I am sure of that.”

He also highlighted Poland's ongoing efforts to strengthen its military capabilities through modernization, transformation, equipment purchases, and training.

“Not all countries contribute like Poland. Our defense spending is 4% of GDP, while one-third of NATO members fail to meet the required 2% of GDP,” the minister said.
