Following a series of Russian assaults on its energy system in late March and April,
Ukraine has taken significant measures to ramp up electricity imports and suspend exports.
The country’s energy ministry has revealed plans to elevate imports to 13,764 megawatt hours (MWh) on Wednesday, a notable increase from 9,298 MWh on Tuesday and 7,858 MWh on Monday. Imports are expected to be sourced from neighboring countries such as
Romania, Slovakia, and Poland.
In a parallel announcement, Ukraine’s national power grid operator, Ukrenergo, disclosed its intention to implement restrictions on electricity supplies to business consumers during peak consumption hours in the evening.
These restrictions are set to be enforced across all regions of Ukraine. However, Ukrenergo assured that power allocations to critical infrastructure facilities and
defense enterprises would remain unaffected.
