The film was made using a special technique in which every frame is turned into an oil painting. It was produced by the same people involved in making the movie “Loving Vincent”. “We are delighted that the world premiere of “The Peasants” will take place at the Toronto International Film Festival,” Hugh Welchman, co-director and producer of “The Peasants” from BreakThru Films studio, said in a press release.
“The Peasants” movie has already been sold to more than 40 countries, including Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, Scandinavia, South Korea and China. Negotiations are also underway with buyers in the U.K., North America, Australia, and Japan.

In creating the movie animation, studio BreakThru Films shot the scenes with actors, and later on each frame was hand-painted as an oil painting. This task was undertaken by more than 100 artists in studios in Poland, Lithuania, Serbia, and Ukraine.

In the last stage of its production, the frames, now oil paintings, were supplemented by animation specialists.
