Frostpunk 2 is the sequel to the survival strategy game by Warsaw-based video game developer 11 Bit Studios, in which the objective is to ensure the survival of inhabitants in a world covered in ice.
The game is currently in 6th place among best-sellers on Steam, which places it above legendary games Black Myth: Wukong, and Final Fantasy XVI.
“We estimate that the current pre-sale is around 200-220,000 units, of which around 75%-80% is the deluxe version. We expect that in the month after the premiere, sales will amount to around 800,000 units, of which around 600-650,000 will fall in Q2 2024," wrote analyst Krzysztof Tkocz in the broker DM BDM’s newsletter.
DM BDM estimates that the game will sell 1.4 million copies in 2024 alone.
“Considering the current pre-sale of 'FP2', the game's positioning in the global top sellers ranking on Steam, and reviewer ratings, we believe that our assumptions remain realistic,” Tkocz added.
Storyline
Set in the early 1900s, players step into the role of a leader in an alternate history of the period.
Their mission is to rebuild and govern a city in a catastrophic global volcanic winter, which has brought humanity to the brink of extinction. As the city’s leader, players must navigate difficult moral and political decisions that have an impact on both survival and the future of civilization.
The game will initially launch exclusively on PC. There are also plans for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S releases in 2025.
