Shin Won Sik will first travel to Romania before heading north to Poland for a three-day visit that will include a trip to the Tactical Air Base in Minsk Mazowiecki, where South Korean-made FA-50GF light combat aircraft belonging to the Polish Air Force are stationed.
Poland has signed a number of contracts with South Korea for the purchase of defense equipment including a $1.6 billion deal for 72 South Korean K239 Chunmoo multi-barreled missile launchers and a deal for about 1,000 K2 tanks for $3.37 billion.
Shin will also meet Władysław Kosniak-Kamysz, his Polish counterpart, for talks that will cover strengthening defense ties with Poland as well as security issues on the Korean peninsula.
